【低音の音質】【高音の音質】
NTH-50の形状はSennheiser HD 25と同じオンイヤーのヘッドホンだが一聴して性格は異なる。NTH-50はいわゆるハーマンカーブに乗った心地良さよりも特に中域付近の耳障りな部分を炙り出して気付かせる「ダメ出し」に振った特性のようである。

NTH-50の聴覚上の周波数特性は仕様の5Hz-35kHz通りに広いが平坦に聞かせるような意図が感じられてHD 25の低音の膨らみ+高音のエッジとも違うし中音域は引っ込まないストレートさがある。音量を上げてもうるさくなくて全帯域で生き生きとしてくる。

【フィット感】【外音遮断性】
題名にも書いたがお世辞にもフィット感が良いとは言えない。イヤーパッドはHD 25のシワシワな薄手に比べるとNTH-50は幅広で厚みも多少ありスベっとしているが、その快適に見える部分は強側圧と組み合わせたパッシブな高遮音に振ったものである事に気付く。

そのパッシブな高遮音であるが僕が聞いたヘッドホンの中ではSennheiserのHD 620Sとタメを張る位に優れ、強側圧と相まって短時間に没入・調整する用途ならNTH-50はありだと思う。

【機能性】【携帯性】
NTH-50で機能的に一番の特長はバヨネットロック着脱式のケーブルが左右のどちらのハウジング下部にも対応している事でNTH-100から引き継がれたものだが他にHD 490 PROなどでも見られる構造である。

後、プラグに嵌め込めるカラーリングが付属していてケーブルが立て込む現場でも容易にケーブルの識別が出来るような工夫もされている。

スイーベルや折り畳みは装備していなく、そのような携帯性よりもグラつく要因の可動性を持たずサッと取ってサッと確実に装着する機敏性を重視しているようである。

付属ケーブルは部分的な1.7mのカールである程度の歩行移動や装置移動へ配慮しつつ取り回しが両立されている。

【デザイン】
オンイヤーの典型的なプロ仕様ヘッドホンの出で立ち。樹脂で覆われたデザインではあるが、一つ一つのパーツが骨太で頑丈そうに見える道具感を醸し出している。

[Sound quality]
The NTH-50 is an on-ear headphone with the same shape as the Sennheiser HD 25, but at first listen, its character is different. The NTH-50 seems to have a characteristic that is more focused on "finding out" harsh parts, especially in the mid-range, rather than the comfort of the so-called Harman curve.

The audible frequency response of the NTH-50 is wide as specified at 5Hz-35kHz, but there is an intention to make it sound flat, which is different from the bass bulge + treble edge of the HD 25, and the mid-range has a straightness that does not recede. Even when turn up the volume, it's not loud and the entire frequency range is lively.

[Fit] [External sound isolation]
As mentioned in the title, the fit is not good, even as a compliment. Compared to the wrinkled and thin ear pads of the HD 25, the NTH-50 is wide and somewhat thick, so it may be smooth and comfortable at first glance. However, I think that is aimed at passive high sound isolation combined with strong side pressure.

Of the headphones I have listened to, the passive high sound isolation is excellent, rivaling the Sennheiser HD 620S, and I think the NTH-50 is a good choice for short-term immersion and adjustment combined with strong side pressure.

[Functionality] [Portability]
The most distinctive feature of the NTH-50 is the bayonet lock detachable cable that can be attached to either the left or right bottom of the housing, inherited from the NTH-100, but also seen on other models such as the HD 490 PRO.

In addition, comes with colored rings that can be attached to the plugs, making it easy to identify cables even in a field with a lot of cables.

The NTH-50 does not have a swivel or foldable design, and it seems to prioritize agility, being able to quickly put on and attach securely, rather than portability, without the mobility that can cause it to wobble.

The included cable is 1.7m long and partially curled, making it easy to handle when carrying the headphones or moving the attached device.

[Appearance]
The NTH-50 has the typical appearance of professional on-ear headphones. Although the design is covered in resin, each part looks robust, giving off a tool-like feel.
