英語専用モデルが欲しくて購入。２ヶ月前。

メイン画面に関しては、反射してとても見にくくてしょうがない。
この辞書はあまりお勧めできません。

辞書機能は満足。
複数の英和辞書が収録されているが、リーダース英和辞書だけでいい。
メイン画面もタッチパネル式になっているのは良い。
暗記カードを手書きで作成できるが、細かい字が書けない。
数独とかは不要。

For non-Japanese, this dictionary has the very useful New Kenkyusha Japanese-English dictionary, but it has too many inherent faults to buy (unless you get a price of around \20,000). It's almost as though it has been designed with planned obsolescence（計画的陳腐化）.

Good points:
1) fast search once you get the hang of using the touch pen (but see below)
2) some good dictionaries, including the above-mentioned 480,000-word J-E and the 355,000-word E-E Oxford Dictionary of English.
3) some other content (e.g. kanji drills, Japanese Brittanica, Royal English Grammar, other foreign-language guide books etc.) may be useful to those of you whose Japanese reading capability is at least at the intermediate level (but see below). BTW, this dictionary is definitely not suitable for beginner-level students of Japanese as all screen language is in Japanese as is the 240-page users' manual (although there is a 2-page sheet of basic instructions in English!)
4) Kanji can be hand-written into the search engine (but see below).

Bad points:
1) It's size and weight (especially when in the poorly-designed Casio Ex-word case) severely limits its portability.
2) Screen reflection is an issue...often use of the backlight is necessary, but that really uses up battery power.
3) You need to develop a technique to write in kanji as the sensor picks up what you've written a second after you lift the touchpen from the screen, often not giving you enough time to complete the character. You'll have to hold the pen on the screen in the same position if you need to check the kanji while you're writing it in.
4) The Progressive J-E dictionary is useless if you have the New Kenkyusha...but the latest edition (6th.) of the New Kenkyusha has 520,000 words and is only on the new Seikyos.
5) Does not have the Random House E-J (the predecessor 9700 did).
6) Does not have the big Japanese thesaurus (the 9700 did).
7) Does not have the English-version of the Concise Brittanica (at least one of the Seikyos do). You can add this though if you buy the CD rom (about \4,000).
8) The action-sensor is a next-to-useless function; in fact, it can be a nuisance when you are reading flash cards or doing the kanji drills.
9) You have to check the content to see if it meets your needs. There are 100 books, many of which may be useless to you (like the 8 TOEIC textbooks or the explanation book for those who want to study in the U.S). Because of this large content, it can sometimes make searching more time-consuming and operation more complicated.
